I've been pickin' since my late teens, so at this point almost 20 years. I've learned and forgot so many songs over the years, but still pick on dueling banjos every once and awhile. The opening melody is what people remember, the ending is more of just a constant pressure in BPM until the guitar player quits. It's pretty much the ultimate in jam circles when you are trying to settle down somebody that thinks they are a hot crosspicker on guitar. I certainly don't get the time like I used to when I was younger with the kids, wife, job stuff, but it's always been a good match with my manic personality. Think fast, talk fast, pick fast. Next time I make a video I'll send it to ya.

Im a guitar player, but can do the basic duelling banjo’s thing, not just the guitar but the banjo bit, but your exactly right in what you say.
Oh and I need the video!
