I am very interested in your DSR method. I was planning for setting up my RO/DI water storage and salt mixing containers last night and realized I would need a lot less, if I was using DSR. After reading you thread here I was planning on studying it more and incorporating part if not all of it on my new tank. One of my weakness has been testing consistently. I am getting down to one tank so it will be less of a problem.
I love all your gorgonias in the video. Many are considered hard to keep as they require a lot of food. What do you feed them? Any other tips for keeping them happy besides your DSR method.

So please read, learn, experiment, ask, but please respect the bounderies i've set.
ASK ANYTHING, but no recipes!

I still say this is one of the most peculiar (read: suspicious) DIY threads I've ever seen on any subject.

Does "DSR User" mean something specific to Reef2Reef – I see that tag under his profile. Does that come from R2R sponsorship?

Curious.

DSR stands for "Dutch Synthetic Reefing" (as the title of the thread states), a method/style Glenn came up with. I just assume "DSR User" means he uses the DSR method. Or what do you mean?

Unusual, uncommon, unconventional, strange, controversial, against the rules, impossible..... i have heard it all
In my own country and abroad.

The bottomline is:
In holland my method have been accepted on all local forums. 90% of the dedicated saltwaters specialised LFS have the products available to run with my methode, because there is nothing secret about it and people now understand how they can control their reeftank using simple products.
Some LFS even maintain the show and holding tanks using my method with great results

While I shared the way of working and there were many publications worldwide, i decided it was wise to slowdown on most forums, since the method became known/succesfull in the netherlands.

The reason for that is:
- conflict of interrest
- i got tired/bored of defending repeating myself over and over.
- supporting the domestic forum/user/lfs took up most my time.
- i choose quality over quantity.

So if people are interrested i share and explain, but i will not and can't spend all my energy convincing people what they should do.

I am just a overenthousiast reefer, who (encourage by reefing friends) decided to share my obstinate way of reefing and it took of beyound my expectations.

It is very succesful in holland and i earned my credits with the domestic community.
I have been retired since 2008 and have picked up this hobby just the unlimited challenges and have no ambition to take it further than the dutch community, which i support by defining a local standaard.

If i may have infringed any rules just remove whatever comment or links.

Some forum / fb groups appreciate my presence some don't . I only blog where i am being appreciated and i won't try to convert anyone to my method. Just showing how it's being done and free for anyone to implement/improve/experiment at own risk.

if i have/earned the right/privilage to "advertise"...

I am cool with any which way, because i have seen and experience it all before on local forums.

I suppose the local forum admin/mods realized that the reefing community members should work together instead against each other and big ego's were not the way to go.
After all the community members are there to learn and be sociable.

Glennf is not selling anything in regard to his DSR method. It's free which is awesome. Others have possibly taken from it and selling...

Agree or not agree with his methods I don't believe he's in violation of anything on this forum.

Wow! I've read all of this thread and your method has captured my attention Glenn. Thank you for sharing. Once I compose my thoughts I will picking your brain! I will also be asking Tony some questions too (if that's alright with him) since he converted a zeo tank to the DSR methods. I am currently running a full zeovit tank.

Glenn is one of the most sharing hobbyist I have had the pleasure to meet. I have learned a lot from his work on his Reef tank and there has been many advancements in the hobby do to what he has learned and share to hobbyist around the world. Nothing suspicious about his tank or work. Many other Aquarium manufacturers are riding on the coat tails of Glenn's research and learning over the years. I wish we had more Glenn's in this world.

It is simply just sad that people can't (or don't want to) accept that reefkeeping can be successfull without the widely accepted old school "10% weekly water change" paradigm. Quite a few people are succeeding even without any water change using the Triton method, the DSR method or other home made supplementation practice.

meanwhile

people like me and paul_b et critized for being different. LOL

Different like you don't have an avatar different? :p

I did email to sign up to the dsr forums but my account was never activated.

Just emailed myself! Excited to see how it works since I am very impressed with your tank!! :)

Thank you for sharing sir!

I signed up as well and downloaded the spread sheet. It in not the clearest to understand. Some parts do not have english, but that is minor. If I just want to dose iron for phosphate control on a 1100 liter system how much should I dose?

I copied and past the Dutch into English translate
