Equipment Reviewing: Flexi Plug
Date Purchased:
Received from FLEXI to review, did not buy it
Condition: (new or used)
New
Overall rating: 1 - 5: 2.5

Would you recommend it:
Not currently

Pro:
takes up very little space, easy to put together and pretty affordable per unit. Great if you are just going to control one piece of equipment

Cons:
Each plug only has one outlet on it, so you would have to buy multiple plugs to run more than one piece of equipment. This would make it very expensive to use for your entire tank. This is not a big deal if you only want to use it for one thing.
The main reason I gave it such a bad score was because of the physical button on the device. It has a very poor design and function, with all the technology that is out there it really makes no sense as to why they went with this design. The button is a flat piece plastic that rest on thee little metal pins, this makes the button hyper sensitive and almost impossible to use. After attempting to set-up my device and not being able to get the plug to connect to the app I contacted FLEXI and was told to play around with the button until I found the "sweet spot".....great advice, I'm sorry but I should not have to try and find the "sweet spot" on a brand new piece of equipment, it should just work. If they design a better button system for the device I would have no problem and would probably give it a 4 or 5.

Additional info:
It was mentioned during my email exchanges that the device might be defective and if this turns out to be the case I will edit my review to reflect that and update it if I receive a non defective plug. I can't upload pics from work, so I will add them once I get home.

I just want to make sure I understand what this thing is.......it's basically a timer that I can set through my smart phone. Is that right?

Pretty much, it lets you set on/off time intervals, turn on/off by Bluetooth and has a feed mode setting.

Thanks @Shep. I just looked it up. I really don't need one because I use aquarium controllers to do all that, but $65 for a timer seems a bit high. I'd rather go for the $10-$15 ones at HD......note I am an old fart and don't own (or want) a smart phone.

Yea if you have a full on aquarium controller, then this would be redundant and pointless. I think its more aimed at people who run small, simple tanks.
