The sand is covered in bubble algae laying loosely on the surface -- Two options, what do you guys think?
1) remove rock and clean sand thoroughly with a big water change, allowing me to place structure in tomorrow.
Or...
2) remove sand completely, delaying structure
I'm wondering about the sand. Should it be removed completely or should it just be cleaned thoroughly ?

I say remove it. I see no benefit to it in this tank.

Well it finally showed up, it looks good to me and they look more natural under water than you'd think.
Mine if course isn't in tank yet.. it will be, got a lot if work to do with it first though!
I may go bare bottom because the sand has bubble algae in it. It shouldn't be too hard to put in but we'll see how that ends up!

My flow is already at Max with sand lol!
If I have to I'll just turn down the skimmer and skim a little more dry if missing nutrients becomes a problem again.

so surprised to say.. I had to turn my flow DOWN with the new structure. Couldn't believe it.. Never have I had too much flow in a tank.
Structure is in. about 80% of sand removed (couldn't get it all) Corals stressed, fish are exploring, water still a bit cloudy. I'll wait until I get a decent picture instead of just a cloudy ugly one.
