**The GHL Mitras LX7 LED**

GHL's own specifications, which seem to mirror most folks' experience, is one light per 24x36 space of tank you are trying to light. In your case, it seems like 2 fixtures would do the trick. I plan on 2 fixtures for a 48x24x20 tank, so not too dissimilar in dimensions.

would i have a lot of shading at the back /side of the tank ? for ecotech radion g4 pro i will need to use 3 units

if you put coral at the edges of the tank Im sure it would shadow a bit, but the design of the Mitras (6 pucks with reflectors) vs the radions (2 or 1 puck with lenses, depending on model) I would say the Mitras wins the coverage battle.

Could someone tell me something about the overall noise level these lights make. Are the fans loud?
I like the looks of the tank mout just to bad that you can't rotate the light on the bracket.

Mounting the light on a reefer 170 is a bit tricky with their flex mount. I have some pictures in my build thread and on the flex mount thread. It is very quiet and I have zero regrets on selecting it for my 170. There will be another mount or adapter in the future that will allow rotating it.

LOL. That is why I moved my down years ago. I put them where my MH's where and it lighted the floor and the walls and I couldn't even watch my TV.
Yeah you have to work with them to see where you want them. I actually have my tilted a bit in the front to ensure no light bleeds over to the floor in the front even at the minimum height I have them.

I have a few questions that you guys may be able to help me with. I CAN connect to the mitras lx7 through wifi, but after i disconnect for a half a day or so I have to restart the fixtures to connect wirelessly. Sometimes the fixtures will have a new ip address sometimes the ip address will remain the same. It's really annoying as my computer is upstairs and the fixtures are downstairs. My firmware is all up to date.

My next question is the power setting. Im in high output mode set at 100%, all the blue channels are adjusted to 130% and the rest are at 70%. Why when I increase brightness to 100% with all the channels at full power does the fixture only draw 88 watts? The fixture is supposed to be 195 watts? I wouldnt run the light at this intensity, but im wondering why the power isn't there.

I don't have the LX7, but that sounds weird that you cant connect after a couple days via wifi. Some people with the unit I"m sure can chime in. But strictly from IP point of view......it sounds like you need to assign a static IP to the unit. You must have DHCP enabled to dynamically assign IP's to the unit. Just assign a static IP and your IP change issue goes away. Hope that helps just a bit.

Have you updated the firmware? There was a firmware update for similar wifi issues. I had similar problem before.

@revhtree I just picked up a pair myself and have yet to program them, but at 100% on all channels they look incredible and give off some serious power/coverage as shown in the picture! Was fairly easy to set them up as master/slave, will report back on other programming bits...

What size tank you have? I like the fact that there is no shimmer as I am not a fan is shimmer. But 750 a light is very expensive for me. I would need to for my 48" tank. Not ready to spend 1500 bucks on lights...

@Xclusive Reef it is a 48x24x20 100g, it will have shimmer when water is in it. @slief posted some videos of the lights over his frag tank which shows the shimmer, you can find it on Youtube if you search GHL Mitras, he has a few videos talking about them.

They are expensive, and if you do not like shimmer you might consider an ATI T5 fixture for your tank. Most LED lights will have that shimmer due to being a single-point source of light versus the diffused approach of T5. I prefer the LEDs as T5 makes it look a little artificial in my opinion.

" that's what I was going by. So thanks for the info.. it would have been an expensive mistake.. Checked yourtube, yes I saw the shimmer of these lights. I am not sure what OP was talking about. maybe with no water movement you will see no shimmer

Shimmer and disco are two different things, are you referring to seeing the separate colors in the tank or the general shimmer due to water movement on the surface? These lights do not have the disco effect, but do have the shimmer.

Here is the "disco" effect which you can see the separate light spectrum dancing on the sand

And the "shimmer", which is just due to surface agitation and its effect on light passing through. No color separation on the sand

I like the light, colors are nice and the GCC is not too bad to use for programming. The light is plenty strong too. I just don't like that I have to unplug the fixture to connect wirelessly. I've updated firmware and changed to static IP but still have the same issues.

Another thing I think is needed is an iphone App and a way to save the lighting schedule on the light fixture itself. If you switch between computers you need the file on that computer. It would be nice to be able to save at least one schedule to the light itself and be able to always access and modify that file.

All in all the fixture is great. It is the first quality LED fixture I've had and the difference is noticeable and the corals have actually changed in color. Just having a few issues with actually connecting to the light when I need to. One more thing is the mounting. Four screw holes would have helped tremendously but I understand that the heat sink takes up a lot of space and maybe this wasn't feasible.

It's a great light with great spread, perfect amount of shimmer, no disco, and great features. The firmware update solved my main issues which were resetting settings on losing power and some wifi issues.

You do need to run at 100% or close to it. Having an 11k spectrum at 100% all channels doesn't make too much sense to me, could have probably had more par swapping a white for a blue and having 100% all channels be 14k, but par seems to be perfectly fine already (can still easily burn corals not acclimated).

I also wished they drilled 4 holes instead of two for the hanging kit b/c it's really hard to get it perfectly level with only two and I couldn't use the arm mount b/c my tank was already setup and too close to the wall apparently.
