Good Day All,
I'm not sure this is the appropriate place or even appropriate to post but since I feel the cause is worthy I thought I would anyways.
I ran across this site the other day, as my company provides the technology in the background to process the data. They are basically asking for volunteers to validate images to train AI to monitor the Great Barrier Reef. It's a pretty cool initiative that I thought most of us here would really enjoy and could get behind. It doesn't take much time, at least not anymore time than we spend here looking at pictures of coral. But this way we get to help train AI and get to look at thousands and thousands of pictures of the Great Barrier Reef.
Website is: https://greatreefcensus.org/
They only ask for an email address, which is to track which pictures you've analyzed and what is even cooler, is you can track on a map where the pictures are on the reef. So if you want to ever take a trip there and find some really good spots that you want to see in person, you now have the GPS coordinates to do so.
If this post violates any rules, my apologies, please take it down.
Otherwise, I hope this is as interesting and valuable to you as I have found it.
I am not affiliated to website and the views here are mine alone, just a happy reefer trying to help where I can from a land locked location.
