Is that blade metal or acrylic?

Metal blade as pictured is for glass aquarium. Magnet also came with plastic blade that op has not mentioned as available that was to be used for acrylic aquariums.

The blade is not necessary, the pad on magnet can get thru most algae and coralline

The extra blades plastic and metal are available online for cheap.
