About 10 days ago the rocks in my new tank started turning green. Tank is 2 months old. When I say green, I mean the brightest green you could imagine. This happened right after the diatom bloom. Water parameters stable the whole time. Just today I am noting dots of purple. I have read coralline algae can do this, but it is incredible to watch! Thought I would share as a new reefer after spending a lot of time researching the “problem” over the last week. Thankfully reef2reef prevented me from adding something unnecessary for nuisance algae that might have set me back. Great community here!

i'd just wait, if it doesn't come off like cyano or hair algae, your tank is maturing and will most likely have a very healthy microbiome

Looks like a very healthy new tank. I remember the same stage. It's all part of the algae cycle in the 1st year of your tank's life. Remember that algae is a natural part of a new tank's growth and development.

Looks like beautiful green algae growing on those rocks. Exactly where you want to be. Part of the cycle.
