What are some of your favorite and not so favorite impulse buys (Make sure to include pictures!!)

I’ll start

Kind of hard to tell but this is my gold (or as I was told when I purchased it within the last couple of hours) torch! This was my favorite impulse but so far.

My worst was when I bought a hors shoe crab for my old 45 gallon returned it the next day so I didn’t have a chance to take a picture lol.

My favorite impulse buy was my reverse superman montipora. Easily.one of my favorites in the tank and has been a real good grower.

My worse impulse buy is when I was first starting out and the lady at the local fish store sold me a tiny frag of green star polyps. Anyone familiar with green star polyps knows where this post is going lol. Needless to say it started to take over. I eventually had to scrape it out and pull it as it was starting to choke out some of my more expensive acropora
This is an older picture but you can see it creeping in on my tri color valida

Lot of nice growth on that reverse Superman monti. Smart to put scrape of the gsp before it gets out of hand lol.

my best impulse buy was my 200 gal
my worst impulse buy was my 200gal
It was a great impulse buy and I still love it on a daily basis
it was a terrible impulse buy cause it still sucks money out of my pocket everyday and still makes me impulsive
the friends I have made in this hobby are some of the best people I have ever met.that's one of the best parts of this hobby.i'm sure many of you will agree.

Agree with you 100% and so true I know my wallet is so very disappointed in me for spending so much on that “need to have frag”

Glad I never fully got into Xenia. I feel for you though must be a pain

Yeah Xenia are invasive. But actually quite friendly. They haven’t hurt anything in my tank and they can be corralled (no pun intended) by other more aggressive Corals. Mine are surrounded and can’t move beyond one tank section.

My best impulse buy was green birds nest.. grew so fast. My worst was a Kenya tree. That one lives in my sump now. Broke off branches and took over every part of my tank.

With cell phones and the ability to Google, I do not make that mistake anymore lol. Anything I see, I immediately pull out my phone if I don't recognize it.

LOL, in one of the best LFS by me, I cannot get cell phone service. And they are pricey. I considered they purposely block the signal.

Best impulse buy for me was the Seneye to use as a PAR meter. Picked it up very cheap on Black Friday.

Worst - Goniopora - really annoyed at myself for listening to the LFS tell my wife how easy they are - said almost any flow and just about any light. HA - lesson learned. I'm still struggling to keep this thing alive and it's definitely not happy or growing.

Best - upgrading to the newest Apex at an event where they were running a 20% deal for purchases that day.

20% off an apex lucky. Wish my lfs had sales like that

Told myself I needed this $400 bounce as an investment. Granted it's 3x larger than when I bought it but I haven't made a cent of that $400 back

Hahahah I tell myself that it is an investment every time I buy a new piece

Best- My blue throat trigger, such a cool fish and so different from what I consider the normal reef fare, and a total model citizen
Worst- HUGE kings crown snail, I needed a sand sifter and figured the big bull dozer would turn my sand over 10 times a day as big as it was the size of my fist. I had no idea that it was a predator and had to provide it with clams on the half shell and it would only bury in the sand not plow around it. Although, what was cool, is that when I put the clam in the tank it would rise from the sand bed like some leviathan of the deep and absolutely destroy the clam.
