Hello,

im having troubles with what I think are diatoms in my 6 month old reefer 250. I can clean the glass and it’s covered in brown dust within half an hour. Im using RODI with zero tds. It’s a all acro tank and they are growing great.

phos 0.03
Nitrate 2

How old is the tank. Diatoms are normal.. even on my 2 year old tank i get a film on the glass have to clean it every 1-2 days... on a newer tank it happens quicker and its thicker

I had the same at 6 months on a reefer 250. It was a combo of feeding too much reef roids and not enough cleanup crew. I dropped feeding corals to once a week, the dust went away and their growth exploded.

Pics will help if you’re looking to get confirmation of diatoms. As mentioned above, it’s normal in new (and not new tanks). I bought extra snails and scraped the glass and it’s not so much of a problem over a year in. I can get 3-4 days before it starts to look hazy again

I had the same issue for awhile. Clean glass, 45 min later it was dirty again. After a single dose of Vibrant, I didnt have to clean my glass for a week.
