Added a small refuge to my current sump... still waiting on the new sump system err since I'm using Triton I had to add macro algae. :) Caulerpa and Chaeto are growing fast, I will also add some different types of macro algae from my local seashore pictures soon ;)

It's a beauty!

It's a beauty!

Thanks a lot David :)

A little update on the system... since I'm waiting for the new sump and I had to add a refuge for the Triton Method.

I decided to improvise this small acrylic box is holding the algae on a small section of the sump with a sealed bottom to collect sediments from the tank for the algae to "feed" and many small hole to improve the water flow.

Great shots and WAITING! :p

Rev here you go :)

News... and my experience with Triton so far...

Been using the Triton Method for ~3months now and so far so good have a bit of algae but still understandable due to my under-sized refuge, the new sump will only be ready on the end of October and that will take some time... thinking about adding a separate bucket to grow even more algae to sustain the system.

Dosing, I started with 37ml... been up to 57ml, now stable at 41ml for a month now with a Kh of 7.7 dKh which is also a good value to match my NSW, if I water change Kh stays the same :)

Carbon added, 200ml every 1month

Increased tank flow and increased return pump flow to try and eliminate a small bit of algae in the center of the tank looks like it's working

CUC, as I read in a friends thread and it makes a lot of sense! Triton method is based on algae so algae will grow in the refuge and in the display tank more than other methods hence I need to have a better CUC so I just ordered a couple of tuxedos urchins and a few more snails and crabs.

Tunned the skimmer to get more wet skimmate.

Working on a new ATO system, I need a 6-stage RO unit :S :S :S working on it with a help of a friend of mine... unfortunately my tap TDS during week days is 300 and during the weekend 500+ no idea why... :(

New fish: Z. Flavescens

Gorgeous my friend and thanks for the new tank details!

Great photography. Any tips you can share on how to take such good pictures?

Whoops forgot to reply mate.

Well tips... you need to have a SLR camera with a very good macro lens :) it's like 50% of the receipt :) ... take only pictures in RAW and edit them later on Photoshop making the coral look the same as you can see in your tank. :) and thats about it :)

More news...

And a few more shots from the tank :) nothing major happening just keeping things stable :)

Been having major issues with my RO unit... tap water TDS is up to 560 :S so I'm building a custom made RO system, will post pictures soon :)

I have an SLR, shoot in raw and use Lightroom and PS. My macro is only 60mm and I can't get in tight enough so I'm looking at 120mm. What ISO and f stop settings do you lean towards? Do you make any lighting adjustments?

Cheers

60mm is a bit short... I use 90mm and 100mm, ISO 100 (so no chance for noise unless you have a Sony a7r mk ii ahah low light beast) f stop depends on the area Im shooting but I try to use the highest I can without sacrificing too much shutter speed so I dont get blured images.

No lighting adjustment, I adjust colors in Camera Raw and final touch with PS :)
