I lived in TX for 8 years in the80's part Army and two years after I got out. Loved it except for the heat

I remember my first week in Tx. (Killeen) and we had a ice storm and then a little bit of snow( less than a in) it was amazing that they shut the place down. And yes I had just come from a month in Chicago and before that three years in northern Germany. Thank you by the way. Are you another Houston man? There is three or more guys on here from that area. Houston had way too much humidity for me even being in early thirties.
I like Dallas and Austin big time.

Ah used take i35 up to Dallas and 40 across to Texarkana. Also drove I 20 across to Alabama as well. That area of Texas is great, the weather is fantastic as well. Forgot to mention went on a convoy up 35 to 40 then up to Ft Smith/ Ft Chafee Ar for a month. On the way back my wrecker broke down just outside of Red River Army Depot. Spent a month waiting for parts to repair the engine ( fuel injector pump) at Red River it was so much fun NOT

Salttanklife...Tank looks great. I have the same powerhead in mine. I probably can't stand it and will have to go get a pair of clowns this weekend, if not sooner.

Got to watch those clowns they're mean MF's mine just nip and nip at me and they know the difference between your hand and other things.

Thanks guys, I'm loving the tank so far. I've got big plans for it and can't wait to get it full. I had a little mishap with my skimmer overflowing while I was asleep and my ATO putting in 9 gallons of freshwater. My salinity dropped from 1.025 to 1.020 overnight. It has took me over 2 weeks to bring it back up and luckily I haven't lost anything.

I'm loving the the WaveMaker as well. I've got it on the lowest setting and it's makes a real nice wave in the tank. I was worried about it overflowing at the start because I run topless. When doing a water change, I cut up the power and let it blow everything around before hand.

Hi I love mine as well. I'm takin NG time with things gots a little bit of diatoms all over but doing good. I added ( I already had) my reactor and put biopellets in it. The skimmer is going to town a little wet and whenever I take the cup and clean it out I restart the skimmer and I have to "reset it" I'm using the polyfilter S and the starfish is alive and kicking just fine. Doesn't move around much but he's moving so I know he still kicking. So I'm happy whether the poly is taking care of the he problem don't know as I debating whether to get a CUC or not, am getting some "beginner" corals on Friday. Worked with World Wide Corals and Chris was fantastic to work with. I'd advise either your LFS or them for corals. He even gave me a discount

Moved a few frags up to the rocks today...everything looking good. Diatoms are gone and the "green up" (hair algae looking stuff) is starting. Walked by the tank this afternoon and noticed water was a bit cloudy and first thought was microbubbles. Never had a problem with the skimmer creating bubbles. Upon closer inspection, the glass is covered with Copepods and they water column is full of them. Watchman Goby is snagging them along with the clowns. For the past two weeks I was sure I wasted money buying Tisbe pods from AlgaGen, (I hope I can mention where I got them) because it just looked like an off colored bottle of water. (Kinda like what comes out of the tap here.) Well I was wrong and their product was exactly as stated. The pods apparently had a "birthday" today. Should I be concerned about seeing so many at once and maybe having a rapid die off? Looks like things are progressing as planned....or I have just be lucky so far. I have to go out of town in a week for a few days....seems like things always happen then....So fingers crossed for continued good progress. Just hate seeing the dreaded.."hair algae"..starting!!!

I don't think so. I think your lucky to get that many living in the tank and even more that you can see them. Your more than welcome to ship ten thousand or so ( I have very little )
Now to put them in refugium or in back of the tank

Be careful with pistol shrimp. I had a few in the past. Peppermints may be ok until they get big. Caribbeans and Tigers can be aggressive from the start. All of them can see anything they can grab as "din din". Do some research and be prepared that they don't like your goby. They may also make keeping anything not permanently attached to your rocks theirs and will move to where they want it. Usually in front of their "mancave"!
