I'm looking at both and wondering if anyone has any experience with both. I would very much like to hear your thoughts.

55 gallon 36"x24"x15"

You would definitely need at least 2 mp10 for that tank. I was running 2 of them on a 65 gallon (36x20x21) and i had to place them on the back wall to get decent coverage out of them. If i were to have gone the SPS route, i would have probably needed more of them. The 130 imo will get the water column moving a bit better, and you will also have the ability to point the flow in the desired direction.

I'm leaning towards the Maxspect also, plus it's much cheaper. Especially if i would need 2 mp10s.

I've used both and have gone back to the mp10s. The Maxspects are a PITA to clean and the 2 I owned stopped working properly within a year. Threw them in the trash. (When working properly they do however give better flow and coverage.)

I was running two Mp10's on a 58 gallon tank. I had a few dead spots. I added the Gyre 130 about 8 months ago and couldn't be happier. Corals seem happier as well. I still run 1 mp10 on the back wall. Both pumps are great IMO.

I bought a gyre and I don't like cleaning it and I only had mine running for about a year before it didn't work so there must be something with those pumps because I've heard alot of people having problems with them

I believe Maxspect recommends to clean the Gyre once a month. I disassemble mine and clean every 3 months and it runs like it did from day one.

I've got a Gyre 130, clean it every few months, runs like a champ.

It is, in fact, a PITA to clean... but IMHO, it's worth it.

Two jebao pp8 and call it a day. Will have to dial them down a bit though. I've had both and believe the jebao pumps are a better value than the mp10 / mp40. Some people have complained that they have had faulty units or ones that fail after a few months, but I own 4 and haven't had any problems for almost 2 years. I could buy 6 pp8 for the price of one mp40. The flow on these is pretty amazing.... wide and strong. If money is no object, go for 2 mp40....

I tried the maxspect it lasted 5 months before the first breakdown then another 4 after it was fixed.
Went back to vortechs and never looked back. They are so much more reliable and easier to clean and maintain.

I was looking at the Jebao this afternoon. Seems like a good unit, and i like the price.

Isn't the mp40 only a couple bucks more and you would only need one. I like the mp better than maxspect. I feel there are better made and need less mantience. Plus with the reef link there have more control features

No, the mp40 is about $200 more.

Bulk reef had the mp10 for 285 and the mp40 for 349. Unless I am missing something
I can get the maxspect 130 for $175 new. And about $100 for a used one. But i can get the Jebao pp8 for about $100 Maybe less.

Absolutely correct, I have two in my Red Sea reefer 425 and they do great, I also bought two new ones sw-8, which I will add for even more flow and adjustable, for $120 for two u can't go wrong!!
