The Mediocreef

Plating right?
Sort of. Depends on flow, light, etc. Mine grows like a Digitata! Plate, encrust, and sticks. The original colony was very much like a Tabling Acro. Each of the frags I pulled from it grow more vertical and not much basing out or crusting.

pretty sure I've pegged my alk consumption to 2ppm a day. Not blistering, but kinda nice that I can measure it. It's within the margin of error, but I tracked daily over 8 days and had a 2ppm drop every day but the one I had a 3ppm drop.
Now, smart people, is it worth it to figure out evaporation and add alk to the ATO, or can I just dose another 15ppm weekly? It's about a .75dkh shift when I would dose.

I would just dose an additional 15 ppm per week. I'm not a fan of using ato for anything aside from topoff. Any variation in your evaporation can cause wild fluctuations in your parameters. Just my thoughts.

That's a good idea too. i am in the probably bad habit of adding extra water to the sump so I don't need to fill the ato as frequently.

How would water changes factor in? If you are in that camp.
I should do them more. I have a poor ro filter for the size of tank and it takes the better part of 16 hours to get 10 gallons. I haven't tested my salt lately so I don't know what I'm mixing in. That's probably step one.

Not necessarily though. I rarely do water er changes and my only filter is socks and a skimmer that I run for 6 hours a day (4 times for 1.5 hours).

Far be it from me to boast buuuuut I can make 10 gallons of RO water in about 7 minutes.

Kidney filtered beers do not equal RO, Chris. We've been over this a million times...

Then I have been doing this all wrong this whole time... which would explain a few things... :thinking-face:
The good news is your tank really processes ammonia good!

Way back in the day, it was not unheard of to pee in your tank in-order-to kick start the cycle.

You say that as though you are surprised that I keep forgetting. At my age and with all the beer and whiskey filtering I’ve done, it’s amazing I can remember what my name is anymore.
