AC is out in the house. Tech said it's probably the compressor pump. This could be a long weekend...

Gonna get a hotel? Keep that baby from getting too hot!
pondering it. Got a portable AC last night that chilled the important rooms well last night. It's not going to hang with 90 degrees though. Secretary at work offered us to come up tomorrow when it is the worst.

pretty much. we really only have one window in the house to put an AC unit in and that is the dining room.

I first read that as you only have one window in the house period.

I was like what kind of bunker is he living in?

After it took the tech hours and cost us $300+ the problem is diagnosed. He offered to fix it for $145. We passed on that assuming I could figure it out.

The culprit...

Nice! Still a huge PITA, but way better than replacing your HVAC/whole unit! Hope your house cools quickly!

Same happened to my parents' last summer...

Glad you got to the root of the problem and is an easy fix anyway.

Several years ago our compressor on our geo thermal furnace went out but they no long make that one, forcing us to buy a whole new furnace. And it was only around 10 years old. What should have been a$500-$600 fix cost us $14 grand. Went with a different brand this time.

Rough.
Well that's annoying, but an easy replacement. AC back up and functioning?
Yup. Got one on my way home from work yesterday. I feel a little dumb for not staying with a faulty circuit breaker.

I was preparing for that news. We've been talking about replacing the furnace for years now but they cost a lot of money. Fortunately my house is small, 1000 sqft. That should keep the cost under 10k.

circuit wasn't the (only) culprit. it's also the fan board. we find out today what the damage is and how long we are without AC. on the bright side, we have someone to stay with so wife is comfy and infant is cool enough. on the dark side, away from reef with a house in the 80s and an outside in the 90s...

Updates??? How's the A/C? How's the baby? How's the tank?
house is still hot. wife dumped ice in the tanks yesterday, i did the day before. reef was 80 degrees when I did that. lights got turned off, that should help temps. part of me wants the hard reset of a crash, but I think that's more a fried and overloaded stress response.

A/C fan motor and main board are out, 4-5 business days shipping from Tuesday, so soonest repair is tomorrow. I'm angry the tech that was out last friday didn't find the fault then. he said the electrical was good, guess not, or is the board technical, not electrical. how fine is the line? under $1k to fix, so doable and this is what emergency funds are for.

baby needs to poop more often than every 4+ days and we need to get his reflux under control. otherwise growing and ok. we're staying at a friends so he is staying cool. the dog is confused why there is a cat in the house though. he's not sure what to do with that info.
And you and your wife too. Hope you're all good!
me? tired, fried, whatever. Wife, about the same but excited about milk production, even froze some the other day. thawed it today, but whatever.

Thanks for asking. hoping tomorrow is better.

we need to get his reflux under control. otherwise
Our daughter had that pretty bad. She was loosing weight. Finally figured out after an endoscope that her diagram was not fully closed yet. She was on some meds for it. She out grew it, thankfully.
