I guess I am slipping :)

The Falernum might be hard to find. I get mine online. It is a syrup made from lime, ginger, almonds and cloves.

Cobra’s Fang
  • 1/2 oz Lime Juice
  • 1/2 oz Orange Juice
  • 1/2 oz Falernum
  • 1/4 oz Grenadine
  • 1/4 oz Passion Fruit Syrup
  • 1 1/2 oz Dark Rum
  • 1/2 oz Demerara 151 Rum
  • 1 Dash Angostera Bitters
Thank you..I'll order some Falernum, especially since I'm already 2 and a half hours late for my lunch date with the Devil's Cut...the easy 1 hour toilet replacement ended up being the 5 hour, 3 trips to the hardware store, screaming, cussing and wheres my stick of dynamite toilet replacement ;Rage. Ended up having to replace the busted flange on the drain...what a pain in the butt ;Bored

Guess i should have read the rest of the posts before I posted my last one about ordering it ..I will check this out for sure.
You could try the drink without The Falernum first to see if you might like it, before you order it or make it. Each component is subtle in a lot of the tiki drinks. You will notice a lot of 1/2 ounce and 1/4 ounce ingredients, some as little as a few drops.

There is an app that you can get for your phone (I think it was like $10) and I use it often. It is called “Beachbum Berry’s Total Tiki.” A ton of info packed in that one app.

Remember that most of these drinks are from old recipes - some close to a century old. A lot of them were signature drinks at exotic far away hotel bars. The app also has a brief history of where the drink came from.

Our entire basement in North Dakota was a tiki bar that my dad put together back in 1962. I come by my love of tiki from way back. Only recently though have I started to explore the myriad of drinks. :-)

I have a hiatus hernia that kills me now with dark liquor, I used to do JD, I manage to slide a bottle of spiced rum in every once in a while!

Very cool...I will look in to it. After all, I only live a mile from the beach...ao why not tiki it up from time to time... ;Smuggrin

So now you're all done with that you can come replace mine too right?

Jim is my normal goto...although I like most all dark liquors, can put away some spiced rum (sailor Jerry's for at home casual drinking) too. I will drink white liquors, but we don't always get along very well.;)

There is also a book entitled, "Smuggler's Cove" that has lots of information about tiki drinks, rum and tiki culture. I have this also.

Tiki cocktail of the day - The Suffering B@stard in the appropriate Trader Vic’s mug of the same name :)

1 oz Gin
1 oz Bourbon
1/2 oz Lime Cordial Syrup
4 oz Ginger Beer
2 dashes Peychaud Bitters

This is one recipe here there are numerous adaptations. This is only one of them.

You ever try JD single barrel select? Pricy but as smooth as Tennessee whiskey gets
