Good news power is back on. Power guys said it was the fourth Squirrel incident this morning.

My clown fish are still pooping white. It’s not stringy tho like a parasite. I only feed white mysis so I think we found our culprit! The food! They are super active and healthy

You could feed pellets one day and check to see, but probably no need. One of my yasha gobies only eats the mysis and has white poop. I loaded a few pieces with reef roids and his poop was orange lol. That was my check.

Also I’m so done with filter socks. It’s terrible. I’m buying a filter cup and using filter floss and carbon
Can you believe I’m 1.5 months in and haven’t scraped the glass once. And it’s still super clean! And all I’ve had is that diatom tiny outbreak in one coroner of the tank for 3 days and then it was gone

just wait...the uglies will hit. Took mine months to hit, and its not that bad, small amount of hair algae and diatoms on the rock and only have to clean glass every 3 days or so...and I cured my rocks for 3 months or so prior to being placed in the tank. But, I'm a heavy feeder with some heavy poopers in the tank.

I’ve gone to Catholic school most of my life and that is 110% something that happens and I may have pulled stuff like that before

Ok, being as I have a 7’x30” frag tank now. Once it cycles all the way and is stable, should I dedicate part of it to my largest mertens nem?

I mean like feed the nem twice to 3 times a week, put it under the t5 side and see how big it gets.

In the wild they can get over 3’. I want a 3 foot nem and it would still leave 3.5 feet of frag tank. Nem poop is rich in nutrients and my sps seem to love it. The clowns mash it up and fin it out of the nem, the polyps of everything in the path of it moving across the tank come out.

Just a thought.

Will it walk around a lot? And is the frag tank in an accessible room? Bc that’s a beautiful showpiece. Wouldn’t want it sitting in the basement

Frag tank is in the fish barn right now lol. Mini barn with ac and heat. Fully insulated. For walking, it would be put in, allowed to go wherever and then other stuff put back in. Mertens love light and to be on top of rocks with their foot in between the rocks. Once settled, as long as flow and light doesn’t change, mine have never moved.

Trying to talk the wife into moving the frag tank into the “formal room”. We never use it, it is full of tropical plants and the mangroves I plan to add would make it fit in. At least that’s my argument lol. Honestly, I want a lagoon style, like true lagoon and this tank can do that.

I want a lagoon too! I would love to get one! Not sure if the price would be in my range to get a 4ft lagoon but once my room is done I’m going to be poking around . A fish barn sounds awesome!
