This is the absolute truth. Even with a budget build and mostly inexpensive corals + getting the tank, light, and stand used I spend/have spent WAY more than I anticipated.

I don’t have any frame of reference other than to compare it to the costs of keeping the freshwater tank. Which are essentially nil after getting the tank set up, once in a while we get more carbon and sometimes a new sponge....
