hi @Fin sorry too see ,looks better that i expected, how are you guys ? find a closer place to stay yet?

Kinda proud of my little stick cottage. Held up pretty good to 132mph winds. It’s not much but it is paid for, still standing and about to get some new stuff! Very lucky and thankful it can be repaired. Part of my retirement plan was to have no mortgage or rent. Picture my neighbor sent me. Thinking my old cars are going to be scratched to hell from flying shingles and debris. Both had original paint. :(

Stay safe, glad it doesn't look too bad. :)

Yesterdays storms:

At a distance , you can see the rain falling and it was then I knew rain was on the way. .. . . .

Here is a nice little gem for you - I'm catching up on a few threads this morning when I come across this page and specific post. I usually have music playing when I get to this post what is playing? The Wailin' Jennys | Storm Comin'

Hope all is well with everyone. Those in harms way stay safe. Those in stressful or difficult times find light and a smile.

No. That’s going to be almost impossible. Most people now are taking accommodations in New Orleans, which is further away than I am now. An open letter posted from our mayor was pleading with people to stay put at least another week before trying to get home. No running water with no estimated time to be restored. Weeks at a minimum. Electricity the same. No gas. It took my neighbor over an hour to get to her son’s home which is only 5 miles away. Streets blocked everywhere by downed trees and utility poles. It is just a huge widespread mess.

For fear that one drink will be lonesome, take another to keep it company, and another to keep the peace between them.

Hoping no one loots my house and steals all my rum. :(
from pics looks like all windows and doors intact,is that a el camino or ranchiro?in the drive?

Yeah, as best I can tell, the windows seem intact, at least in the east side. Fingers crossed anyway. I didn’t board up my house, but did my mother’s place. She still had the plywood and Plyox clips from Rita.

Yes, that is a 1979 El Camino. It was my dad’s and has been in the family almost 40 years. I hope it isn’t messed up too bad. Flying shingles will do a number on a paint job. Luckily, I still carry full coverage on both my old cars. I keep them insured for this very reason.

good to hear ,on the lighter side ,would not worry about the rum ;) from what iv'e learned about you so far ,the good stuff is most likely buried in yard with your gold;)just hoping for a smile:)

Should send your neighbor over to secure it and put in safe place...however, I'm slightly doubtful that rum will be high on the list of most looters
I started to leave him a key. I have a freezer full of meat, fish and shrimp decomposing as we speak. I was going to throw all that out before we left, but I was overruled. I’m sorry if I already said some of this stuff earlier. I can’t remember what I have said between here, Facebook and our home forum. And there is that age thing...
