As the title says, I've had this long struggle of finding balance in my tank. It seems like I'm in a constant battle between having nutrients too low that I get dinos and then having them too high where I begin to get algae growth. My tank really seems to be taking a hit with GHA and bryopsis right now. On top of that, my green slimer and spongade appear to be dying from STN. One thing that I know I need to do is to up my clean up crew as I don't have too many snails & hermits at the moment. Other than that, I really don't know what I need to do in order to have a clean tank that doesn't have algae everywhere. Could anyone shed some light? Some of my SPS are even getting taken over by algae. What's weird is that some of my other corals love these conditions (Acans, space invader, Torch seems okay).

Parameters:
Alk: 6.1 dkH

Temp: 76 degrees F

Salinity: 34ppm

Ca:500ppm

Po4: 0.012

No3: 2ppm

Lighting: Running AB+ on AI Prime (Red & green turned to 2%)

Livestock: Two clowns

I feel your pain man. I think you have two roads. Quick is clean everything hard and fast. i think it’s called a rip clean. Second path is slowly taking away things that make the bad things grow. GHA would be light and phosphate/nitrate. Cut back on your light and cut back on your food. See if that helps.

In the meantime, just dose fluconazole for the GHA/bryopsis. It’s the easiest way to get rid of it while you sort out the nutrient issue. Your nitrate and phosphate will likely bump up as the algae is up taking both of this right now.

I can relate! I’m curious how old your tank is and did you start with live ( established rock/sand) or with dry rock? Reason I ask is I’m at the 2 year mark with my system and although haven’t had gha, I’ve battled Cyano and dinos and like you some corals and good while others die a slow receding death. I’m thinking it is a diversity (bacteria) issue or rather lack there of. Curious what you did?

It looks like new tank uglies. Seed some coraline, remove what you can by hand. Fast forward in time 2 months.
