The next critter ID pls

Found this guy crawling on side of tank; had a sort of hard outer shell when I tried to get it out of the tank with tongs and a razor blade; once in the glass, it curled up like a soft ball; reminded me of a potato bug.

It’s some kind of chiton. Should be safe to my knowledge but better wait for others to chime in.
