So tired of looking at one fish in my tank I decided to add another. A reasonably small yellow watchman. When I put him in he vanishes until well into the evening when I see him swimming all over the tank. I came out in the middle of the night and saw him chilling on the sandbed just fine. Fast forward to this morning, my roommate found him dead wedged inside the output head for my return pump. My theory is either one of two things happened, either he actually wedged himself inside that pump, or, I have an all in one so the back baffles are right next to the display, he jumped over the back and got sucked up by the return pump. There is a very small gap between my screen top and the back acrylic false wall that he could have fit through, but the body wasn't shredded. Is it possible for a fish to go through a return pump?

Gobies are notorious jumpers, especially when first introduced into a tank. If there's even a small opening chances are they're going to find it. They usually calm down once they get "settled". Did you have a screen or sponge on the intake of your return pump or was it open? If open, he could have tried to use the pump as a hiding spot and then got wedged inside.

I don't have anything over the intake of my return pump because it is in the back baffles. The fish was wedged in the outflow head though and Im guessing it was big enough for him to get in then get stuck. Either way ive got a lot of holes to cover if im going to try again.
