The Office Reef

Little photo update of the office tank.

At home I've got a couple frogspawn, torches, a Fiji leather, two wellso, and a bleeding apple that will be moved over to this tank this week. So, it should be looking pretty full by the end of the week.

All my LPS aren't doing to hot in my SPS Reef. I've got too low of a nutrient load despite a TON of feedings (4-6 cubes a day for 9 fish). So, I'm hopping they do better in this lower light, higher nutrient system.

I don't know that I'd get much work done if I had this tank in my office:rolleyes:

Looks great!

For some reason euphyllia are not doing well in this tank. Last week I took out all my euphyllia since they weren't looking good after the transfer. Prior to the transfer they were doing great. Its all the same rock and ceramedia. I did replace the sand with caribsea's aragalive (rinsed thoroughly) fiji pink. So maybe a mini-cycle?

All my leathers and softies are doing great. My duncan frag is doing well too, which has me a bit stumped since I'd expect them to behave/react similarly as a euphyllia. I also replaced the light which provides a much greater light output and more even distribution. So that could be it as well.

I'll have to bring in the test kits tomorrow and run some tests as well as a water change.

I have a Hach DR3900 spectrophotometer in my lab and had some ultra-low range ammonia kits laying around. Ran a test on the tank and the result was 0.0346 mg/L, which I would attribute to non-detect on any home test kit. Unfortunately the nitrate and nitrite kits recently expired and I disposed of them all.

Well not a good start to my Friday. Found the Potters angel dead this morning. No idea why. I was so close to just leaving him in my SPS tank at home and it looks like I should have.

This tank is just destined to be fishless. I've had such horrible luck with fish lately.

I'm so sorry for your loss :( How are your euphyllia doing?

Came in this morning to find the coral banded shrimp dead. So that's two deaths since Friday. Not sure what the problem is. Coral are all doing well, but then again it's all softies. I could pour bleach in there and they'd still grow.

Salinity is normal at 1.023 (where I've always ran it). Ammonia was tested Friday. I'll test nitrate today and do a water change this afternoon.

On another note I picked up a Jebao PP4. The Sicce nano I have just isn't cutting it.

Well long time no post! Tanks still doing well and made it into my new office. For some reason euphylia still just don't work in this tank. Not sure what the issue is. All other coral are doing great. I got rid of the mantis and added a GSM and a small damsel. I noticed a lot of my coral were paling so I was desperate for any small fish to get some nutrients and waste into the system. I also added a baby (5") jeweled moray.

Looking to swap out the Jabeo for either a used MP10 or maybe try the new Aqamai nano Koralia.
