is this one of this bad xanthid crabs? found 3 on a new millie i got
Sorry, I have to disagree. It is not a Mithrax Crab. It is a Cymo andreossyi. Also, a lot of people think Mithrax Crabs are good tank inhabitants. But, that's not one of them.is this one of this bad xanthid crabs? found 3 on a new millie i got
so they are good? if so i need to find them before the fuge mantis gets them!Sorry, I have to disagree. It is not a Mithrax Crab. It is a Cymo andreossyi. Also, a lot of people think Mithrax Crabs are good tank inhabitants. But, that's not one of them.
Well I only found one, I feel like I split up a family :squigglemouth: lol. two were larger and the other was a baby about the size of a pinhead. I could have dispersed them throughout my milli collection...maybe ill spot another in the fuge one day. I also have a pocillopora that has two very nice trapezias on itThat's a judgement call you have to make. They help the coral, but they also eat a few polyps. Three on one coral frag might be a bit much. I'd squirt a little Coral Frenzy or something similar on it once in awhile to feed the crabs, so they don't over eat the coral.
anyone got a clue what the heck these white things are? they just showed up in one corner of my pico tank which has been running for quite awhile, no new coral either? (dont mind the acoel, I am addressing them soon)
I said the white things LOLBlue clove polyps. Probably THE most invasive coral ever. Do a search for them here and you can find some info about how they can totally take over a tank, (my tank included at one time).
I said the white things LOL
Lost in translation I guess.
I stick by my answer though. That coral releases free swimming larvae which are possibly the white things on your glass. So my guess is blue clove polyp larvae.
definitely weren't pods as they wet immobile and they were lots of pods crawling around on the sand below. The white things may be "pods" of some sort, too.
Thinking I've found a couple tiny Sun Coral polyps amongst the red coralline algae. Need a better way to magnify to be certain, though.
