Finally able to take a decent picture of my tank and found out how to load it.
I have been growing macro algae for about 2 years. Had difficulties at the onset, and was never successful with Uva

the third and fith pictures are my favourite absolutely beautiful tanks

Wowzers. Your tank is an inspiration!

Three questions for you:
1: What are tank dimensions? Length and Volume, specifically.
*GREAT wide viewing field, love the proportions.
2: is that aluminum, low profile bar, above the tank another lightsource, just off for the photo?
*love your juxtaposition of different lighting options.. some more direct, and some wide to spread the WHOLE tank with light evenly.
3: what's the key to keeping your gorgonians happy? Is it the gyre pump?! Lighting? Feeding?! All of the above?
*gorgonians have become my favorite corals, but I haven't had them thriving, YET!

Here’s my response:
1: What are tank dimensions? Length and Volume, specifically. 24x48x16 (80 gallon DT, 12 gallon additional display plumbed in, 100 gal stock tank refugium sump)
*GREAT wide viewing field, love the proportions.
2: is that aluminum, low profile bar, above the tank another lightsource, just off for the photo? Yes! 3 sets of lights. - 2 AI primes, middle hydra 26, led bar in back and a grow light above for the mangroves
*love your juxtaposition of different lighting options.. some more direct, and some wide to spread the WHOLE tank with light evenly.
3: what's the key to keeping your gorgonians happy? They are photosynthetic. Some I’ve had for close to 4 years now. I feed heavily and often which I’m sure helps. Some of the feather dusters are a few years old as well. There is also a tunicate (1 yr with me) and basket starfish. Is it the gyre pump?! Lighting? Feeding?! All of the above?
*gorgonians have become my favorite corals, but I haven't had them thriving, YET!

The entire tank is Caribbean species with the exception of the yellow clown goby who is 9 years old and deserves to live in paradise!

Yes! Macros are awesome! Here’s some pictures of my sunlit refugium. Algae grows so much faster than coral it’s a constantly changing underwater garden. Perfect place for all those cool little invertebrates that would get lost in a larger aquarium. And many times I have to turn off my skimmer it’s so efficient at lowering nutrients.

That is a great photo of the tank with the reflection on the surface. That is worthy of framing IMO.

Hello. I am interested in the dosing pump attached to your calcium reactor. I have not seen one like this offered in the aquarium hobby. Is that a medical unit?

Where is everyone buying these algae’s from?

When I first started in the hobby I was always into the macro algeas - started with Halimeda. I wouldn't call any of these pictures "eye candy" though. Sharin' for smiles! Here is a picture when I first got one, the second to show some nice growth, and the last when the macro was acting as a nursery for baby cardinals. Using the halimeda I'd usually get 1-2 to survive to adulthood each brood with no effort.

Last is a pic from my macro-tank experiment (not to be a DT, but rather looking for alternative food sources for my critters). Behold - the wall of Ulva.

One of the cool things about Halimada - at least what I’ve heard - is it shows you if you have low calcium because the edge of the leaf will turn white.
