Macro lagoon display is beautiful. What spectrum on your lights?

Macro lagoon display is beautiful. What spectrum on your lights?

Those are a kessil a360we that I use for supplement. They run at about 40% max but spectrum is variable based on personal preference at view time. Sunlight doesn’t have any visible blue like aquarium lights so in the evening I do heavy blue to see the fluorescing algae and coral.

Side note: I checked the par once and the sunlight was 700-1100 par in that tank

Did someone say macroalgae???

What type of macro is in the first picture upper left (The green macro). I had some start growing out of a piece of live rock in my fuge and it has really taken off. I have not been able to ID it.

Grape Caulerpa. Of all the macros I have, it is the toughest and best grower. Not too pretty as it has a tendency to get wild and stringy. Either remove the rock or learn to love it. Even a tiny spec attached to the rock will grow back over time. I, of course, love it!!!

What’s that red stringy alge in that last pic? Beautiful.

Red Gracilaria. Unfortunately I don’t have much left. Never grew well in my display, and I think a hungry crab or three nailed most of it in my fuge. Oh well, crabs gotta eat too!!
There is a green variety I may try down the road. There are also some more ornate red varieties of Gracilaria out there too.
My primary vendor is Gulf Coast Ecosystems (live-plants.com). Huge quantities, great prices, excellent packing and shipping.

At 1 point we tried a 1/4" net cage in the main tank with some caulerpa.

The 2 tang's would push the net in to get at it and devour it before the cualerpa could outgrow them.

We were feeding nori as well.

This is amazing!
Is anyone running two displays with macro in one and reef in another using the same sump?
I was actually in the process of doing that, I'm shooting for 4 displays. Reef, fowlr, macro garden and still hasn't decided on what the fourth would have. Maybe a Mantis shrimp habitat.
