....but don't you find snails to be inefficient?

IMO they spend 99.9% of the time on the glass and not eating leftover food and algae among the LR.
Snails, good glass cleaners? Yes. LR cleaners, suspect.

I agree to some extent. I order from reef cleaners and try to get snails, limpets that might prefer rocks. In the past I have got the dwarf ceriths and they get in the books and crannies of the rocks for me.

I like snails too. Lots of garlic and butter.
I think I have hermits crabs. Could not tell you what kind. They are disguised as snails.

I think a multi layer CUC is ideal. I prefer dwarf blue legged, but have had red and yellow.

I stopped ordering new snails. The dwarf blue and red leg hermits do a better job. They leave the Ceriths alone though interestingly and those reproduce like mad.

BTW, I love Trochus snails, but the hermits kill them quick.

None, don't trust any crabs. Halloween hermits look very cool though.

Other - Surf Hermits and Striped Hermits. Surf hermits bury through the sand and never climb on anything. Striped hermits are mad lad hair algae killers
