I think about 12-13 inches above and started them at 50% blue and 10 white and slowly upped them to 80/25
See I saw my best growth at 80/20 mine are only 9 inches off the water those settings were great when growing sps but I lost them due to zero phosphates, cyano, stn. Then I slightly rescaped and have lps right below the light and have turned it down to 50/3. I dont know what par they are as dont have a meter but would love to know what just blues are par wise at different settings.

At 60/20 the top of my tank was mid 300 and bottom of tank was 150

I rented a pat meter from my local club
That's cool but here in the uk clubs are few and far between.

Thanks, how tall is your tank ? As those readings are about where you want them can I ask why you went higher to 80/25, or did the blue not put the par up much more.

Thank is a standard 75 gal so I think 24” tall. And I just wanted to up it some more as I talked to other reefers about their settings. I need to recheck it honestly.

Ok

That's cool. I just like to know what people are running these lights at. I think for the price they are very good.

sorry for bringing back a dead thread but i was trying to find budget lights so i can grow coral in my 75
does anyone have a recommendation?

The viparspectras will grow coral but you really should add some supplemental t5 to provide your corals with full spectrum lighting.

You're correct they will grow corals. I was thinking of adding a t5 to supplement the light what would you recommend colour wise.

I just started using t5 but what was recommended to me was coral plus and blue plus. Basically i have changed my lighting to be mainly t5 with led supplement to help with color pop.

I didnt want to spend a rediculous amount of money to get the proper spectrum in led.

I have been looking to add a t5 and was looking at a blue plus, just trying to bodge a t5 on to my set up.

A cheap tv wall mounting bracket. Slightly modified and it helps move it out the way when working on the tank.

Anyone run lunar light for viewing. I am a late nighter and like to see the tank still. Any color I can run for lunar lights. Blue, Royal Blue, or UV? Will it hurt feeding response of coral? Noopsyche is what I run 1 percent of blues still lights up tank pretty well.
