I have either a stone crab, or gorilla crab lurking in my live rock. Not more than a quarter size. The moment I catch it. To the sump it goes.

Definitely a crab. It's approx 2" across, and definitely red-and-white striped, with an orange(?) or lighter spot at the base of the pincers. Kind of pretty, actually. It's got the same pattern as Hallowe'en leptoseris coral, but in red and white. I tried to take a picture, and it just darted back. It's very wary, whatever it is.

If you tried to capture it, they get wary, now you have to drop food for the guy before he gets comfortable. Trap is in need. I never used a trap before.

Got a couple long tweezers/tongs? Try to lure him out with some nori with one and grab him from above with the other.

It was described as "Fiji" live rock. I was looking at sally lightfoots, and your first pic could be it. I guess I'll just have to wait around!

I haven't heard any unusual clicking or banging noises coming from the tank, so I wasn't previously alerted to the fact that something might be lurking in my tank. I've noticed that the rest of the fish are avoiding that cave now...

Probably not a pistol or mantis if you don't hear popping noises.

I'd 2nd reef lobster that's growing . Very hungry apparently.

You might try a bit of raw shrimp or squid on a bamboo skewer to lure him out. Then, nab him with tongs? Just an idea... Hope you can get him before he finishes off your tank and comes after you!!

You know what... Best to be safe here... Box up all of your stock and tank and send them to me (I will cover postage).. I don't want to have to worry about you and your family...
