The Reef Aquarium vol 1, 2 & 3 still valid resource?

When I fist started this hobby and when I was doing research for reports I had a loaned copy of "The Reef Aquarium vol 1"... As I sit here and feel nostalgic I have contemplated buying copies of vol 1, 2 and 3... #1 and #3 don't seem too hard to find. Vol 2 how ever... WOW, none in stock and Amazon private sellers list this book at $200. My god, are the pages lined in gold?

I've seen the other volumes go for equally high prices at different places around the web too.

But other then being nostalgic owning all three volumes... Are the books still a valid reef keeping resource in this day? Thinking has changed ect ect.

Any one offer any thoughts on where to get the books? Fosters and Smith has 1 & 3...
