Hi Salty People,
4 weeks ago I started my second tank after 3 years in this hobby.
My old tank is a 19G/70L mixed and all the habitats will move to this new location soon.
All the equipment was bought as used in fb groups as also the aquarium itself and one Aquabee 3000 return pump, and two Jebao RW Wave Maker (4 and 15).
No skimmer will be used, more on that later.
My idea was to use only one piece of rock as the core of the aquarium and let the animals live in and out in this skyscraper. The task was kind of impossible to find one large enough piece in any LFS (the biggest live or dry rock available is half a size I need). I searched around even online stores around in Europe too and finally find the right one in the basement of the closest LFS.
Its a dry rock around 55cm tall and 13kg. It is so high that the top is over the water line. I planning to put mangrove over there. The sand is Red Sea Pink live reef base.
For filtiration I use a 20G sump with a filter sock and a middle size refugium. In the refugium I put Miracle Mud and a palm size Chaeto algae. I don't want to use any skimmer and do not want to change water frequently.
For the light I have a 165W LED panel running on 25% now.
Having in this hobby in for the last years I learned and lost a lot and I hope I will have a stable and simple system with these parameters.
