The biggest thing that makes a tank pop is the aquascape. But is it just random stacking of rocks. Or is there more of a science or skill to it. Based off what tank you have and what lighting you have will determine what your aquascape will look like to make sure its aesthetically pleasing. Share your experience of aquascaping and what you’ve learned.

I try to apply the rule of 3rds in photography and imagine it's a photo. The most beautiful scapes I see, seem to have elements of this. I'm terrible at it with my current tank....

I've learned that less is more too. It's easy to buy in to the X lbs per gallon and just stuff the tank full. Removing rock and having the scape look better is such a great feeling!

I've been so spoiled. I've always been able to go to local places and cherry pick interesting pieces for my tank. There used to be an awesome warehouse that had huge tubs full of submerged live rock of all different kinds and price points. I would spend a couple of hours there mixing and matching until I found the perfect combo. It's gone now, so if I choose to upgrade I'm out of luck. Starting from a box of random pieces sounds really hard.

To me a reef is an underwater garden of sorts you can keep it as low maintenance as you can with soft corals or keep a more varied selection of mixed reef with sps and lps with this you'll need to think a bit more about the aquascape for placement of corals.

YES!

I encourage every last one of you that if you are aquascaping or REaquascaping..... that most of the LR individual pieces can be pulled easily without effecting the others by NOT having a collapse

Its sooooooooooooo advantageous to be able to pull a LR and scrub/clean it and put back.in under 15mins
