The smelliest smell!

all of these are great. one time when i pulled out some cheato from the refugium and put it in a 5 gallon bucket put a lid on it and put it outside on the deck . forgot all about it for a few days then realized what i had done. in my mind i told myself just throw the whole thing in the garbage but curiosity got the best of me and i wanted to see what it looked like. it was mid summer and had been in the 90*f for a few days. when i opened it i almost fell down it smelled so bad. it was foul dead pods and microfauna. worst reefing smell ever. i have a couple that top the "death Bucket" from work (fireman/paramedic) but those are not publicly safe to talk about online.

Non-Aquaria smell that requires at least an honorable mention: Kraft MAC-n-Cheese single microwaveable cup that your kid forgot to add the water too..... smells like burnt buzzard skin and feathers after chowing down on a day old roadkill opossum from 120 degree asphalt. Took days to fully get the odor out of the house.

Reef = Dead snail that hoped wasn’t for three days until removing it. Never get this smell on your hands because it ain’t coming off without a fight.

Non-Reef = Dead rodent stuck in a wall. Absolutely vile and this is coming from a high school custodian that deals with human waste on a daily basis. It literally smells worse than poo.

I opened up a jar of Chaeto today that had been sitting for a couple of weeks. I still can’t get that smell out if my nostrils!

I took a biopellet reactor offline but didn't remove it off the tank to clean for a week or so. So all that bacteria was dying in stagnant water. If I had to image what a rotting body smells like, that has to be it. Just awful.
