Woke up this morning to my 12 yr old SCREAMING.... DAD DAD there is a flood on the living room floor next to the fish tank...... So I being the responsible father that I try to be run down stairs (still in my underwear) to find a pretty water fall going all the way around my tank. The wife ran to the breaker box and killed the main before sparks went flying. I turned all the pumps off, cleaned the mess up and after a really good conversation (NOT)with the wife, I started to investigate what had happened. Seems that a deviant little snail decided he/she did not like the habitat it was living in had climed over the snail guard and wanted to take the water slide (over flow hose) to the refuge and visit it's little friends. Well needless to say the fat little guy/gal got stuck and caused the DT to over flow onto my hardwood floors. The wife (who does not like the tank to begin with) was NOT a happy camper. The fix...... Modified the little sceen I had use to stop little snails from doing what this little guy did with fishing line, and put another float valve on top of my tank to shut the return pump off if the water got too high. The lovely little wife told me that this would be the last time this happens so GET IT RIGHT THIS TIME!!!!!! Where is her scense of adventure????
Just thought I would share this before it happens to ya"ll.
Good news is that the snail lived!!!!!!
