The Sound of Sumps

I am in the planning stage of my new reef build. I am planning on a 40 -50g tank. My question is how loud is a sump with external overflow?

My tank will be in my living room where we frequently watch movies . Is it going to be like running water sound all the time ? How can I reduce the sound ? Any gear or rig setup tips are appreciated !

my hob gave me sleep paralysis because it feels like polychates are crawling all over me from the sound. id just turn it off during a movie. your powerheads can be flow for the time its off.
