Hello fellow reefers! I have been a prying eye on this forum for some time now and have decided to actually start talking.
I set up my Reef Octopus 48gallon mixed saltwater last December and have become the proverbial "reef junkie" that I'm sure most of you can attest too.
I'll post some pics of the setup but here's the description/equipment list too:
Equipment:
- reef octopus lux t90 system (low iron glass) topless
-RO Classic 150 internal skimmer
-RO bubble blaster 3000 return pump
-maxspect x150 gyre power head
-kessil a360we pendant
-ecoxotic 24" actinic stunner led strip
-hydor smart level control ATO w/5 gallon bucket
-toms Aqua lift pump for ATO
-20 gallon glass sump (3 chambered) DIY'd by me
(Overflow w/skimmer>under-over>refugium/rock pile>over>macro foam filter/carbon sock>under>return)
Livestock:
2-black percula clowns
2-bengai cardinals
1-yellow corse wrasse
1-geometric perchlet
1-peppermint shrimp
1-turbo snail
1-trochas snail
A bunch of cerith snail(sand)
A bunch of blue-leg hermits
Corals: (I'm still bad on the nomenclature)
1-torch (blue tip)
1-hammer
Eagle eye zoas (closed a lot now? )
Pink zoas
Star polyp colony
Stag horn
Aussie blue acro
Green tip(brown now) acro
Blue tip milli
Styliohora purple
Sunset milli
Birds nest
Cats paw
Jedi mind trick
Green chalice
Stunner chalice
Orange acan (20 heads)
Monti cap red
Monti pink/blue polyps
Pink tip acro
Pink monti serotosa
Green lepto
Water change (10gallon) ever 2 weeks
Reef energy A/B
Still real slow growing. About to start dosing 2 part once I get pumps.
Stats:
Mg:1360
Ca: 450
KH: 8.4
NO3: 1-2
I'm figuring all are slow growing due to low, inconsistent KH/Ca.
Getting used to kessil and not frying the corals was a learning process and I have a few acros that suffered as a result. They're coming back though.
