The store sold me bleaching coral

So I got some new coral and when I take them out of the bag I notice they are partially bleached in some places is there anyway I can help them?

sps are the hardest corals to keep and many people expect about half of new sps to die in their tank because of inexperience and the learning curve, once you get it down and your tank is perfect then almost all new SPS can survive in your tank. but you have to expect some of your first ones will not survive.

there are many reasons why they might not survive,

1. insufficient or too much flow
2. not enough light (they need a lot of light, more than LPS tanks)
3. poor water quality (alkalinity, salinity, calcium, ph, magnesium, etc)
4. toxins in water (hard to pinpoint)
5. coral warfare (getting stung by LPS can easily kill some)

Did you get them online or in person? If online and from shipping stress inform the seller and then I’d lower your lights a bit and keep parameters as stable as possible. If you bought them in person how did you not know they were in bad shape at the store?

As long as your water is good they should recover, but they were definitely struggling at the store

In person they cut the frags and bagged them before I could get a good look at the pieces

Give the some time to acclimate/recover. If that's plating monti it will recover if your water is good.

I have other sps that have survived until last summer in which they all bleached due to my tank getting way too warm

That monti is the xenia of sps, grows in most light and flow conditions.
