Hi all though I started a thread on This awesome looking coral, I’ve grew a small baby in the past into a beautiful small colony and wend ive seen this one left abandoned in the corner of the LFS couldn’t resist in having a go to bring it back.

The picture above is day one, this is more or less how I’ve seen it, apparently it has been like this for a few weeks now, there is evident signs of necrosis and I believe it will have a 50/50 chance to come back to full glory.

my feeding hasn’t change I do:

• 3 mix of dry foods in the sump 4x a day, this Is a blend of flake grind to almost dust, Reef Roids and freeze dried phytoplankton

• Continuous phytoplankton reactor, dosing 60ml a day, this gets doses in 8 individuals doses to keep some phytoplankton always in suspense.

• 3 generous portions of frozen brine shrimp

Am currently on day 3, am well impressed with the results so far.

Hopefully this coral will have a happy ending.

This was my last experience with a sun coral we’re I grew this from a tiny speckle

I saw a sad piece at my lfs too and I think I’m gonna take a chance on it to try to bring it back! Awesome job! Following!

I’m nursing a dendro back to life. My pistol shrimp buried it and I thought it was a goner. Found one survivor and I think it’ll make it with some TLC. We got this! :D

i’m fairly certain about this and i hope others can chime in to confirm: for Tubastrea species, not every single head needs to be fed (though it should be a best effort); the heads will share nutrients via their interconnected tissue.

Looking forward to see it in a few months, as long as there’s a mouth I believe that there’s hope :D

I do think the same as you mate, I did seen people saying that you had to feed all the individuals heads to make them thrive.

Well done to all above, I have rescued a couple recently for people, got them feeding well and given them back.
I give the corals food baths, I put a jug or bowl in the tank, pop the coral in and then remove them from the tank, if you lift the coral out to put it in the bowl the polyps will close tighter.
Once in the container you can add food and just swirl the water every minute or two and then reverse the procedure to put it back as long as you are ok with leftover food going back in the tank.
I give the corals 20 - 30 minutes in the bath.
