Second guessing myself.

But radiant wrasse arrived with popeye in both eyes.

Have it temperature acclimating atm.

What I have on hand
furan-2

Metroplex
Kanoplex

For the popeye

Was thinking adding both kanoplex and metroplex to the qt tank.

Or should i use the furan-2?

Can't help with a solution, but curious where it came from? I understand if you don't answer that!

Liveaquaria,
Bacteria infections are brought on by stress and can be fast acting very possible it showed no symptoms last night when shipped and arrived that way this morning. Not a great shipping fish to start with either.

Got called back to work, so its in qt with metro and kano.

Sent an email on received condition to LA as well.

Since you have all three, you can dose all three for the best spectrum coverage. It’s fine to add the Furan-2 later (when you get home from work) Also epsom salt helps with the swelling, 1Tbs to 5 gallons.

For future reference, the general go-to antibiotic for eye infections is Erythromycin. But the ones you have on hand should do the trick!

Thanks for the advice.

When i got home added the furan-2 and epsom salt.

Woke up still has the protruding eye and still pretty much staying on the bottom of the tank except some occasional swimming.

LA got back to me to keep them updated on its condition. The coral i added for to qualify for free shipping is doing well. How many days should I continue with abx if the eyes get better? I also ordered some api e.m. And neoplex to round out my abx stock a little more.

Did not make it :( will email LA back later. Have a photo on white paper and in my freezer following their instructions.

I’m sorry for the loss :( Iridis are probably one of the most delicate halichoerus species.

For future reference, antibiotics should be run for a minimum of 10 days. Regardless if the fish looks better sooner. Can run as long as 14 days if still symptomatic.

Thanks for the advice again :)

The last one was purchased at the lfs. Made it through TTM and a week in an acclimation box (my lubbocki took awhile to accept it).

Then decided to go down my overflow and didnt notice it was in my filter sock till i had changed it and had it sitting out for awhile :/

Will debate what I order with the LA credit.
Perhaps a pink streaked instead. Will think about it over next few days.

Well of course now neither is in stock [emoji23].

But...

Sanitized my qt with bleach.

Grabbed some more sponge from the dt to put in the filter.

Changed out the sand and opened a new ammonia badge.

Ok went with a different species of halichoerus.

Will get a better picture when i am home.
But marshal islands variant h. Claudia.

More assertive (hoping less time needed in the acclimation box)

“More” safe with inverts than other species in the genus. Though know this doesnt 100% mean my pom poms are safe. Theres a coral banded shrimp too but i only know ita alive because of molts not because ive seen it in 7 months [emoji23]

H. Claudia is a nice fish, you’ll be happy with that one!

They had also just gotten an H. xanti in oh my that is a gorgeous fish in person. Bit larger than i was looking for. Also came with a pretty price tag too lol.

@evolved... I though you wrote something somewhere about where the Claudia is collected. I can’t find the post now, does Marshall Islands sound right?

I know H. ornatissimus is restricted to Hawaii. Read through evolve’s posts before purchasing lol

Ok did some of my own looking

Id take a picture in the qt but he buried himself pretty quickly.

Want to say it’s definitely H. biocellatus no H. claudia. See the two tell tale eyespots and fishbase does not include the marshal islands as native to claudia.

Thank you again!
