The trouble with Dove Snails is they are like Tribbles ('The Trouble with Tribbles'. Look it up youngsters)

I noticed an uptick in my Dove Snail population about 4 months ago. I remember saying to myself, "how cool is this? I have a self-sustaining population of algae eaters."

Fast forward to the present, and I spend more time cleaning snail eggs off my equipment than algae and coralline combined. Is there any reef safe method to controlling the population?

As these snails feed off of algae, perhaps you could add some other herbivorous snails to compete with the existing ones for food, like Trochus and Cerith snails as well as conchs. The dove snail population in my tank reached its greatest size when my tank was younger and my film algae grew faster.
You could also try selling extra snails.

Do they still sing songs about the "Great Dove Snail Hunt?"

I have a healthy cleanup crew so there is plenty of competition. I might see if my LFS has need for these.

Nah, then there'll just be a ton of screeching in there all the time. Tiny little "eeeeeeee!!!" at all hours.

You issued a Priority 1 distress call! I'd be happy to obtain some of these, if it helps keep them out of your quadrotriticale! Please PM me and let me know if we can work something out.
