I received my contest frag today. It spent an extra day in transit thanks to UPS, but it looks pretty good anyway. This is a photo about 10 minutes after I placed it on the rack. I am going to let it sit for a few days and acclimate while I try and decide where I want to place it.

My official first photos of my contest frag. The frag browned out quite a bit in shipping probably due to the extra day in transit. I had to use my phone for the pics, but I did the best I could.

Blues Photo

The frag is in my 29g mixed reef tank which started out as a coral quarantine tank and has been up for about a year. It has a 24" Reefbreeder's Photon V2+ and the frag is receiving about 325 par on average for a 5 hour peak with a 3 hour ramp up and down. Calcium and alkalinity are maintained with kalkwasser in the ATO. I keep the parameters as steady as I can at the following levels:

Alk- 7.8
Calc- 400-420
Nitrate- 3
Phosphate .02
Salinity- 35.3
Temp- 78 F

I dose acropower 1-2 times a week 1ml. I change 5 gallons of water each week and the only filtration I have on the tank are 2 HOB power filters. I have 2 fish in the tank. A clown and a sailfin tang that I am growing out to place in my 180g. I feed the fish 1-2 times per day with a variety of frozen foods and a couple times a week I feed a small piece of nori for the tang and a few NLS pellets.

1.Halide/T5/led (giesemann spectra/reefbrite). 3 hrs t5/RB- 6 hrs halide/t5- 3hrs t5/RB.
2. CaRx. Started last week and lost a couple acros. (Luckily this one wasn’t fased)
3. 1.5ml of Red Sea Nutrition and recently started 2 ml acropower daily in a Red Sea Reefer 170.

Dosing: BRS Two-Part with a Neptune DOS.

This is my September entry. I have a 120 gallon mixed reef. I'm running 2 GHL Mitras LX7006 LED fixtures. I dose Aquaforest Components 1/2/3 plus AF Energy,Vitality,Amino, and Build. I have 2 Vortech MP40's for flow.

Looks like you maybe have the florescent green polyps under actinics too? That's really the only color I'm noticing besides the primary blue.

No ruler is needed. The growth is based on overall growth since all frags are different shapes and sizes.

This coral is going to be a grower!!! All the frags have gotten some nice size and encrusting.

2. Running a CalRx on this tank
3. Currently not dosing anything but potassium nitrate
