Let’s “Cut to the chase” So how many reefers out there have the undying support of their wife, significant other or better half?
Well, I’m here to suggest one way because it’s worked amazingly for me.
Coastal decor is HOT!!! At Home, Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, Home Goods you name it, COASTAL has a presence at these favorite retailers.
My beautiful wife of 38 years loves the very popular and trendy Coastal theme and it just so happens that my 180g reef tank has never looked better! So let’s hoist the anchor an see who’s “going coastal” and who has found other ways of bringing our maties into the fold.

Even Walmarts and Targets have Coastal themed home decor! My wife asked if I would paint my new stand cream to match her coastal style clock…….. “ A pleasure my dear”. My tank now compliments her designing. Or is it the other way around? :)

My wife thinks costal decor is for tourists and to be honest I like this on holidays a lot while I like minimalist things at home. Not that I can have it because it is “cold and not cosy enough “ :)

While I love the coastal look it’s somewhat over done here in Florida and the wife doesn’t approve of it at all. She enables my reef keeping though so it’s a plus!
Coastal decor is everywhere here in Arizona! Probably because it’s the closest thing to water we have?

I hear you! We’re newly retired and it works for us. :)

Nick, you’re a blessed man! :)

I'm lucky my wife enjoys the tank as much as me.
Very cool! To be honest, my wife not only loves the coastal decor connection my tank provides, but she grew up near the beaches of the Mediterranean. WIN, WIN.

That is win, win

I'm planning to move my tank across the living room to make room for a fireplace and built-in's. As part of the move I plan to make a new stand and canopy for my tank. I've been searching for a more coastal type design to use to build it.

I guess we were early adopters! One of the gifts we got when we got married was a large framed reef puzzle donw by my Best Man's wife and young son. It has been hanging above our fireplace ever since. The mantle and entertainment center hold our many souvenirs and photos from vacations. The desk I'm sitting at is surrounded by my framed photos I took on vacations. The largest is a fully expanded Basket Star on a sea fan from a night dive in San Salvador.

I'm not a fan of coastal decor, I just love animals. My husband rolls his eyes and as long as I don't go overbudget, he doesn't mind. He'll even help with water changes because I have noodly princess arms and buckets are heavy.

Sounds like a great project! What’s cool about “coastal” is that by its very nature, it’s cheap. Wood slats, white paint and away you go! Coastal decor is seriously a nice look. It’s not a “fine furniture “ look. Good luck with the project. :)

Hey it looks like you’ve definitely got the best of both worlds! Enjoy.

Just about every house in atlantic canada has sea shells, drift wood, sea glass etc so I guess were all fans of coastal decor around here. My other half is a bad influence her favorite fish is a copperband and her favorite coral are the high end acros. And shes in love with moon jellys so now I gotta build a kreisel. But its awesome having the other half interested... Just expensive for me.

Nice looking decor! I think another popular way to describe this type of style is 'nautical' theme. I personally haven't heard it described as coastal before, but both get the point across.
