Let's assume you could travel anywhere in the world first-class for free, where would you choose? Take into consideration costs at your destination that would be your responsibility.

Consider this in broader terms, not just from a diving perspective but also natural beauty of the location, culture and the people. The Red Sea is good but a bit general in that many countries share the sea and some wouldn't be safe to visit a t M.

All the countries bordering the red sea or Mediterranean..... backpacking countries is great fun, but my wife and I travel to countries and spend 3/4 of our time in water.... and eating.

Best so far was Australia for both land and sea. Food, I love all cultures cuisines.

Australia would be my choice too! Seeing the GBR has long been #1 on my bucket list. After I got certified for diving, it made that item all the more attractive. Besides I would love to visit the Outback.

A close second, and this choice would not involve any marine life would be to go on a safari to see the Big Five in Africa.

I really hope to do both of these before they are gone, which sadly seems like an inevitability.

We've kind of narrowed it down to Australia/Tasmania/New Zealand and Thailand. Barb is not allowed to dive but I suspect there are incredible snorkeling sites on the GBR. Phuket is supposed to be a world-class diving location as well.

Indonesia!!!! Raja Ampat is absolutely amazing and the diving there is probably the best in the world in my opinion. You also have the Lembeh Straits and Bali as well. The natural beauty of the country is something to behold as well.

Phuket has declined in the diving category , been there 4 times.. first time it was amazing.

We've decided on Ireland/Iceland. I wouldn't spend 20 hours on an airplane to visit Australia without seeing New Zealand and Fiji. That, unfortunately, got a bit expensive to see everything we wanted to see. I've always wanted to visit Iceland and Ireland has been high on Barbara's list. Heck, you can even dive between tectonic plates in Iceland! No coral reefs, though, but life about a lot more than this hobby.

If I had the money and time to do it, honestly I would consider it to be the biggest accomplishment of my life to follow Charles Darwins footsteps and 'reenact' his voyage through the Galápagos Islands ... short of eating every animal I found that is (he did do that)
Along with diving
