The worst bite ever experienced in our hobby?

Not a bite but growing up would spend summers on my uncles boat in Mexico. We were anchored somewhere in Baja to go snorkeling and he pushed me off the deck into a school of jelly fish. Head to toe pain, welts and fire! 30 years later I still feel the sting....

My story not as bad. But my tank I have a Domino damsel, a three striped damsel, Coral beauty, And every Sunday morning cleaning and water change I get attacked by the three stripe. She bites me, body slams me. Always when you least expect it. You are trying to move a rock being real careful and bam she attacks you. Nothing happens but it does scare you a bit. I have dropped the rocks, hit my hand on other things. She does not bother the other fish, just me.
The Domino will chase the Coral beauty around, she will dark in a rock then come out and tail slap the Domino in the face. Like Ha Ha Ha ! Then run away. They are fun to watch........

Not with the tank, but got stung snorkeling and free diving. Got a spine of a Diadema setosum embedded deep into my thumb. This was on a reef island in the middle of the ocean, no hospital or ER worth anything for several days sailing. Got the spine out with a dagger, countered the toxin with urine. Worked!

With the tank, bite was from a trigger. Was feeding him frozen silversides. Left my hand in the water too long, and he thought my finger was another tasty morsel. He bit down hard enough that I almost pulled him out of water when I yanked my hand out. Here's a photo of the finger. Nice double puncture mark from his fangs.

A few times clowns of mine have bit me drawing blood, once some sps or lr crushed a finger of mine, and various bites from various weird native species I catch lol

My worst "bite" came from a 6" derasa clam. Had my hand in the tank trying to move an anemone away from it when apparently the tip of my little finger strayed into the clam. It closed and cut it nearly to the bone. I was surprised and yanked my hand out so the clam flew across the room, and my corals got a special meal of blood. I'm a little squeamish around blood, particularly my own, and nearly passed out.

Wow, I heard that on rare occasions a fish might get caught in a clam, but I had no idea they could clamp down on a human finger! I will definitely be more wary around my crocea.

I got pricked by a long spined urchin when cleaning a tank. Hurt/burned for hours. The next morning my hand was swollen from it. Swelling went down in a day or two

One of my buddies did. Still don't know how he managed but it ends up almost symptoms of an allergic reaction or severe allergies and everyone's different with it. Sneezing, itching, eyes burning and a bunch of other crazy stuff happens.

My worst story so far thankfully is my Black and white clown pair.

I got them a Nem to be nice and they repay me everytime I put my hand in the tank now by biting and attacking the tender underside of my forearm.
Leaves red whelps that burn for a day and scab the next.
Wouldn't be bad but when I'm gluing corals or re-arranging stuff they double team and get me like 12 times in a row. It hurts a lot . Half are usually bleeding and some have left scars. All from stupid innocent looking clowns.

Oh and the kicker is a couple weeks ago they bit me and made my hand go into the RBTA. One of its tentacles attached to my wrist and left a nice big red spot that burned for three days.

The attacks just tell you how much they like it and want to keep it safe.

My black and white clowns do the same thing, they never bit me until I added my RBTA. Now I don't reach in the tank unless I have a friend to fend them off with some tongs.

Ha yeah ideally my wife is present with the scraper to fend them off.
It's a regular Rose Bubble tip. It needs great flow and moderate light. My clowns keep it fed as you can tell Bc it's huge.

If I can just keep it in this spot, I can live with it. And as long as it doesn't sting me anymore .

And back to the Zoa toxin that stuff is crazy. I remember now with the sneezing and coughing the aches and pains they had the next day. Crazy stuff

Something Similar happened to my wife, but she didn't cut her hand. She was moving one of the rocks and my cleaner shrimp decided her hand needed a good cleaning and went to town tickling her hand while she was trying to move it, but hats off to her, she took it and got the job done despite being tickled the whole time.

Had a 5 inch porcupine puffer bite down on my finger tip. It hurt but all was ok.
