The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Added this exquisite wrasse a few weeks ago, and this guy has developed into quite the character. He will follow me around the tank, swim straight up the the glass, completely unafraid, and stare me directly in the eyes.

It’s how I know he wants some food lol

Not the best pictures, but here he was earlier today giving me the eye and saying “you better have that bottle of shrimp, I’m done asking nicely.”

I’m the same haha.
Definitely excited to see those Vivienne’s on Sunday!
Hope your present is better than mine. Very glad that WWC were checking the fish before it was sent. They will monitor and when another comes in will hold to ensure eating.

Here’s a few terrible pictures. I’m almost certain it’s not a male. It has no striping on it’s anal fin. I guess it could still be transitioning? If so, I have no idea what that looks like.

It’s really hard to tell but she looks to be female still.
I would still avoid a male and go for a much younger female (if not juvenile).

The only problem is finding a healthy one for sale and then getting it through QT. I’ve already had 2 die on me in QT. I won’t attempt to QT another.

Honestly if you go for a male, you likely won’t get him through even just the shipping phase.

Why’s that? I’ve had good luck with all of my leopards being shipped. Is there something about males that makes them worse shippers?

I always try to my wrasses as juveniles when possible, so when I saw this little leopard I had t get it. I’m pretty sure it’s a M. Negrosensis. I never seen one this small before…..

Omg is that a cyanoguttatus?!

Holy ****…LOL I think you’re right!. My LFS knows I like wrasses and is always looking out for me. He got two in with his order. We weren’t sure because we haven’t seen one in years especially that small, but now he’s keeping the other. If anyone can confirm. …TIA

Thats my dream wrasse. Keep us updated!

For the uninitiated, is M. cyanoguttatus particularly hard to find/super special?

Edit: I just google imaged that. Dios!
Yeah! I think its the only one I've never seen for sale and I think is probably the prettiest though they're seen so rarely in aquaria its hard to see good photos.
