I just got a sweet new fish.. a Tahitian Yellow Yellow Hawkfish. He is about 3.5-4” including tail. I would think he a ts similar to an arc eye hawkfish.

I have several small juv/female wrasse including a melanurus, a redline and a radiant wrasse… these 3 are around 2.5”. Anyone know of any arc eyes hawkfish eat smaller wrasse?

Also have a rhomboid but he is 3” and i think he will be okay.

Maybe not eat burning definitely have had hawkfish just outright murder wrasses. Yellow Hawks will absolutely do this.

I lost/almost lost these 2 wrasses to a Lyretail Hawkfish.

So far, she’s been peaceful and just ignores everyone else. She leaves the Radiant to be boss of the sand sleepers and doesn’t seem to want to compete - I’d say they’re much more like Pencil Wrasse in the behavioural sense.
 
No sign of the blue and the Flavi and Aqua have him a hard time when he entered. Maybe this will bring him out and give him a break? If this fails I’ll try get another flasher/fairy and split the aggression further and if that fails, someone is being sumped. If that fails then I’ll rehome one of them.

My Falco was a terror.
He and the borbonias anthias killed my lineatus in less than 12 hours.

So i've always wanted a Thalassoma, despite being aware of how they behave with other fish. Do you guys think this combo would work? I'm planning on adding a T.jansenii and a T.amblycephalum to my 6x2x2 tank at the same time along with the following wrasse:
New additions: (Will be added almost simultaneously(
Barred thicklip 'medium'
red coris 10cmish
Coris pictoides
new guinea wrasse
dragon wrasse
H.biocellatus
Naoko fairy wrasse

existing wrasse:
15cm harlequin tuskfish (meanie, but just got put back in from sump timeout + rock rearrangement)
12cm floral maori wrasse
11cm spanish hogfish
7cm anampses lennardi (haven't seen it in 2 days).
Also wanting to add an earmuff wrasse whenever those become available here.
My hope is that the dragon, red coris and the 2 thalassoma will sort eachother out and leave the more peaceful wrasse to themselves. I know it's risky, but if anyone has any suggestions or feedback i'd be happy to hear it!

Currently have:
B anthoides
H marginatus
N taeneourius
G varius
T lunare

It’s working so far though the dragon is a bit of a monster luckily it’s also slow and lazy.

That's good to hear, seeing as lunare seem to be worse than jansenii when it comes to aggression. What did you think of my idea of having multiple aggressive wrasse be added at the same time to sort of quell the aggression? Could adding a 3rd aggressive one work better? I can also get a Pseudolabrus guentheri which seem to be essentially identical to thalassoma. Another thing i wanted to ask, are thalassoma aggressive because they're territorial, ie they get more aggressive to new fish as they get established or are they just mean? because i could try and stock my wrasses before the thalassoma become established

Just mean. They live with other wrasse in the wild they just are tough and are willing to compete in prime reef real estate. Mine is fast and strong and will happily muscle others off food even if they are bigger than her.

I’ve come to realize the peaceful wrasse generally don’t live in reefs but near reefs where competition is less. There are exceptions like dragon wrasse that are like damsel fish and just very territorial despite living on the outside of reefs. Also Anampses do somehow do alright in reefs despite being little angels.

I'm hoping they leave the anampses alone. That's what happened with my wrasse i have currently, no one even noticed the little lennardi and he didn't notice them. We'll see. I decided to just send it and i bought the Pseudolabrus, they are just too gorgeous to pass up. I will be adding at least a week after the rest of the wrasse including the 2 thalassoma
