The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

All Pseudocheilinus wrasses are aggressive towards other wrasses and really shouldn't be mixed with others.

I don't understand why people ask for help/opinions then do what they want anyway. I have centered the stocking of my tank around the experience of others after reading this thread. I appreciate all the help and advice from this threads contributors very much.

Wasn't just asking to go do what I want. I asked if anyone had done it. He recommend and was the only one to reply. He also responded after I had picked them up. I've read that they can go together and that they can't. Sorry I don't base my tank off of everyone else's.

So the change to male is the same with leopards as well? I guess just wondering because i now have 4 of the same leopards in my tank now. 1 is 3-4in long. 1 is 2in long. And 2 are just 1in or just under. All are getting along great and eating mysis and algae strips i feed my tangs. And the toe bigger ones eat pellet food as well. And the small ones try. But pellets are to big for them. Its cute to watch. They look like they are swimming around with cigars. Sorry off topic...

So all 4 look to be females. Hoping one will turn to a male. Just didnt know if there is a time frame that i should expect to see pattern and sex change. Its only been a month so far. Just wanted to know if at a specific time if i dont see it starting if i need to go looking for a male.

I also have a young coris wrasse still juvi colors. And 2 diff male wrasses. A flasher and another i cant remember whst it was call. Orange in color. Purple ish maze pattern on face. And black spot on middle back fin. And top middle back.

Do what will make you happy.

Well, the mechanisms are the same for Macropharyngodon genus, but the frequency is decreased. Most likely, one of those females will eventually transition to male, but there is also a small possibility they will all four remain female. What is less certain, is when one might begin a transition. It might already be happening and not yet visible, or it might not happen until a ways down the road.

Your best move is to patiently wait for as long as it takes. If you add a male and one has already begun to transition (which might not yet be visually distinguishable), you'll end up with a victim and a victor, and back to four leopards at best.

Ok. Thats what i wanted to hear. Ill wait it out. And hopefully have pictures of the change in time.
