These’s are all I have right now . Ill try to get more , it doesn't trust the phone camera and stays in the rock .

Actually, from the dorsal fin being black I think the LFS did ID the wrasse correctly and I would say it’s a handsome looking male C. lunatus

I would definitely wait for SaltyT to reply though, mine was just a rough guesstimate since I still need to get better at knowing my wrasse (Although you could give me an “old” wrasse and I could tell you what it was such as a Lubbock’s, Scott’s, naoko, seafighter ect..)

Also, no one can aquire a C. jordani unless it came from a private collection. There are none to be had.

These pics look like a female C. katoi to me. Is the tail crescent shaped or rounded?

My other two wrasses in the 15g nano (the naoko will go into the big tank however there’s a 3 inch Scott’s in that tank atm so when the naoko reaches a minimum of 2 inch he’ll go in there)

Your right . It looks exactly like the first picture . Round tail , spotting instead of stripes .

Dang, that’s a fish I would love too bad I have a plan of what my last three-four wrasse will be

- A flasher wrasse (if all goes wrong we have a tank he can go in.. although yes the tank is small it’s the best we can do for now)
- Anampses (Probably neoguinaicus)
- Macropharyngodon (Most likely ornatus)
- Maybe a second anampses or leopard (if there’s room)

I saw my Scott’s flashing just now but I got a badish picture unfortunately since the lights were blue still
I mean you can see some of the electric blue dots he gained on his dorsal fin along with the yello/orange on his pelvic fins

I have a small question about A. neoguinaicus,
So my LFS has a nice sized female (about 2.5”) but they’re going to do fluke and work treatment my question is did I make a mistake leaving it there? (It’s eating and everything is good with it, it was there since May although I never really looked into them until recently so I only truly saw it today

also, does anyone know if an M. lapillus and Scott’s would be okay together

I’m still new enough to this that I haven’t had a wrasse transition for me yet. So I’m not sure what the beginnings look like. My black leopard looks a little different from when I got it. Anybody know what it would look like when she changes? It’s hard to find pics of males of these online. There’s blue on her I’ve never seen before. Way less white spots. And on her belly almost a faint shimmering red. I cannot get the red to come out in a pic. But I can the blue. First pic is now. Second pic is when I got her. I’m glad this thread is here I fell in love with wrasses right away couldn’t wait to get a bigger tank and fill with them this is my favorite one

I have a number of wrasse’s . Blue sided , solon , cleaner , yellow coris , melanarus , a bonded pair of six line , a single six line in a different tank , and the katoi .

I just ordered a Male Crescent Tail Fairy wrasse to add to my other 4 wrasses. I can't wait to get it and add it to my tank.

My Orange Back Fairy wrasse has lost a lot of it color, mainly the Orange on the back...UGH, but its not uncommon unfortunately.

That’s one of my two dream leopards to own, such a shame the one I saw at my LFS today was torn to shreds..

This isn’t my picture however, I’m assuming she’ll look somewhat like this as an adult (I have never owned any leopard wrasse unfortunately however, I have a few I want in mind)

Nice, and one thing about wrasses is when it comes to colours they get put into 3 groups:
red, green/blue and other colours
Red wrasse lose the least amount of colours without a female (So, paracheilinus, I think naokos and kaito’s - essentially any mainly red bodied wrasse? - get put in this group)
Green/Blue wrasse lose the most amount of colour without a female in the tank (Such as the infamous Scott’s wrasse)
And other coloured wrasse lose a moderate amount of colour with no females in the tank (I’m pretty sure orange backs are in this group which will explain how it kept the orange back that gives it the name)

I wish I knew about the colour thing before getting a Scott’s, although yes mine still gets great colours it could have a few more, oh well i guess we all learn from our mistakes

It’s fine! Anything to help a fellow reefer and yep, it’s a very big difference however, it isn’t a bad difference at all compared to how some others look nicer as females

Haha, as soon as you enter the world of wrasses you just want every single one just a shame tanks have a capacity of fish they can hold (I’m reaching mine already and I only have 4 different species, 2 separate genuses in one tank), I think if I could restock my tank I would get rid of the Genicanthus Angel and Swap it with another wrasse or two along with possibly still keep a Scott’s just add it in last next time instead of add it in then find out there’s room for another 4 wrasse

Yeah. I got the bug bad. I think my tank is full sadly. I’ve got here:
Yellow coris
Spotted leopard
Black leopard
Laboute
Blue flasher
Mccosker flasher
Christmas (h biocellllblahblah)
Exquisite

dasly my golden rhomboid died. Think from a bad shipping experience. And I always want more. My lfs seems to get a bunch in pretty often

Your black leopard is an adult female now Her previous coloration was her juvenile colors. She’s beautiful!
