The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Well, bad news. Two of the three wrasses are sick (the Carpenter's and the Orange-back), and my vendor is going to try and nurse them back to health, but it doesn't look good. I didn't take the H. melanurus today either, as she wanted to keep an eye on him as well (although he looks great). So, yet another question: if the other two don't make it, should I take the melanurus and try and introduce the other two at a later date? Or should I hold off and wait until I can put all three in at once?

Sorry to hear about the sick fish.

You can get the melanurus, then get a social acclimation box and use that whenever you add wrasses to the tank.

Ok I picked up what I think is a C. solorensis to go with my H. melanurus. I say think because it seems to have all the right colours in all the right places, except they are muted and there is a black spot on the tail. Is this a juvenile turning into a male, or possibly a female? I'll try to get a photo

A pic will confirm, but it certainly sounds like a female transitioning to a male. Females and juvies have a black spot on the caudal peduncle(the base of the tail and not the fin rays).

The only other possibility in my head is C. exquisitus. These two seem to get confused sometimes.

Don't mind the hair algae haha

That is a male C. solorensis, stl young because it still has the black spot on the caudal peduncle.

Sorry if a similar question has already been asked but does anyone have a thought about mixing two species of Cirrhilabrus wrasse (specifically one terminal Male lineatus and a trio of earlei) in a 500g, Acropora dominated reeftank...not for any particular reason other than they're two of my favorites. Btw, I currently have no other wrasse.

Photographically speaking, not a great pic, but love the subject. Happened to capture them together while trying to snag a pic of one of our C. earlei:
