I find with all the leopards I've owned over the years, yes they pick on the rocks, suck at hunting any pests(for the most part), and will wait to be fed like most fish.

Mandarins destroy pod populations, leopard will wait for food.

A Christmas wrasse can be either;
Halichoeres ornatissimus, Halichoeres biocellatus, Thalassoma trilobatum, Halichoeres claudia and I think there’s another couple that go under the common name “Christmas Wrasse”

I honestly had never heard of that common name for any wrasse before.

Anecdotal, but one time when I was a younger lad, my fish didn't get fed for a couple weeks(long story short, I was in jail).

Despite having thousands of pods crawling on the glass when I got home, my poor blue star wasted away to nothing, and died shortly there after. She was just so used to being fed, I believe she lost her ability to hunt effectively.

I have found over the years, if I withhold food once or twice a week, the fish keep their natural ability to hunt, instead of waiting to be fed all the time.

In other words....

The fish retain their natural ability, instead of being "domesticated".

Interesting - I’ve heard it used quite a bit, although it seems rare to find a H. claudia under that name.
They also often get thrown under the common name Ornamental Wrasse with many other wrasses.

Anyone know what this wrasse is and if its a good reef citizen? It was called a "Purple Wrasse" at the LFS. They had several but all they could say about it was that they though it was similar to a melenarus. It's very pretty but I try and always do my research before buying.

Psedudodax moluccanus aka chiseltooth wrasse. Behaviorally they are similar to tamarin wrasses. They need algae in their diet in addition to meaty foods.

M. Geoffroyi. Didn't know it was called a potters leopard. Always heard it called a Geoffroys leopard wrasse.
